sponge MHC 0470 Dinner Plate and MHC 0467 Salad Plate.
-
Either
sketch the flowered design or trace flowers using NCR paper.
-
On
the dinner plate, place the flowers on the inside of the plate rim.
-
On
the salad plate, place the flowers on the outside rim.
-
Fully
load # 8 Round Sable brush with FDG 505 Pink Carnation.
-
Fill
in the flowers pulling the color from petal end toward base of
petals.
-
Make
each petal using three strokes starting on the outside edges, and do
not smooth out the strokes. Apply 3 coats of color in this
manner.
-
Apply
fully loaded #8 Round Sable brush with FDG 518 Chartreuse.
-
Paint
the leaves from the base to leaf points. This will be a press,
lay-down, lift stroke.

-
Using
the #12 Square Sable Shader, corner load with FDG 504 Chianti
Wine and form a "c" stroke in the center of the end of
each petal.
-
Corner

-

the right side with FDG 509 Mango.
-
Using
Mango, also apply a small blob of paint to several of the leaves to
give them a highlight. Do not be concerned with making these even:
if they are uneven, it adds to their unique look.
-
Apply
three good coats of FG 505 Pink Carnation to the inside
border of the rim.
-
Using
a #8 Square Sable Shader, also apply in a straight line to form
stripes from the inside edge of the rim to the outside edge of the
rim. Use colors of your choice in the combination that you like.
This looks best if you use colors that you have used in the flowered
area.
-
Using
FDG 507 Straw Hat, draw spirals in the center of the plate.
To shade these spirals, draw a second spiral using FDG 506
Goldenrod next to the line of the first color.
-
Adding
a small amount of FDG 517 Foliage Green to FDG 510
Florentine Green and using the wooden end of your brush, make
dots in the center of the plate in balance with the yellow spirals,
and make dots around the center of each flower. Using this color,
apply squiggly lines around the Carnation Pink border near the rim.
Squiggly lines nelp hide the fact that you can't draw a straight
line.
-
Using
FDG 500 Detailing Black, vein the leaves, outline the flowers
and the leaves, and apply small dots around the center of the
flowers.
-
